Kenwood Squeezophone 360° Speaker

Kenwood Squeezophone 360° Speaker
Want a speaker that offers surround sound capability? Look no further than Kenwood’s very own Squeezophone 360° speaker. It is built based along similar lines as the extremely pricey Sony Soutina glass speakers, oozing out your favorite tunes in all directions with the help of acoustic technology. Apart from this inherent ability, very little else is known about the device since it is still under the prototype category. We suppose it ain’t gonna come cheap when made available to the masses though.

philips_laptop_speaker.jpg What do you do when your existing laptop speakers are not upto the mark or you are not willing to share your headphones with others? You can go in for the Philips portable speaker systems for laptops and allow others near you to hear what you are seeing or hearing. But I would advise to use these in places where you don’t annoy others who don’t want to listen to what you are listening to.

Waterproof Mickey Mouse speaker is cute

Posted by admin | Posted in Music | Posted on 22-01-2009

mickey_speaker.jpg This is a must have for any Disney fan big or small, a Mickey Mouse shaped stereo speaker which you can use in the kitchen or bathroom. Beneath the Mickey Mouse speaker is a 35mm side speaker which delivers an output of 1W×2ch and it is enclosed in a waterproof casing which take on light splashes of water. It connects to the audio source via stereo mini plug, which is a hindrance as I would not want to take my iPod or mobile phone next to the shower. What really solves the purpose is a waterproof Bluetooth speaker. Coming back to Mickey it has a light at the bottom which gives out a soft glow. It is powered by 3 x AAA batteries which is good for 24 hours of bathroom singing. It goes on sale in Japan from Febraury for 5040 Yen ($ 55).

Panasonic SC-TZ1 pencil thin speaker system which is wireless

Posted by admin | Posted in Music | Posted on 09-01-2009

panasonic-SC-ZT1.jpg Panasonic announced a range of home theater systems at the CES 2009 but the one which deserves mention is the SC-TZ1. The wireless home theater system works on the 2.4 Ghz band which delivers uncompressed audio it the ultra thin speakers, unfortunately they are not completely wireless as you still need a power cable for each of the four speakers. The SC-TZ1 is somewhat unusual as its technically a 4.0 system–there are just the four, spindle-like speakers (Panasonic calls them Sound Slim Speakers), pictured in the image. These four speakers each have four vertically aligned speakers within them, which the SC-TZ1 uses to create a virtual 7.1 surround sound effect. Sure, it probably won’t sound as good as a real 7.1 system, but you’ll be dealing with a lot less wires. You’ll also notice that the SC-TZ1 lacks a dedicated, separate subwoofer. That’s replaced by integrated subwoofers in each of the speakers, filling in the low end. Again, it won’t match the rumble of a dedicated unit, but it’s definitely less hassle and looks better in your living room.

Scheduled to release during spring pricing for the Panasonic SC-TZ1 is not known yet.

Zikmu Wireless Speakers Ooze With Class

Zikmu Wireless Speakers Ooze With Class

Trust designer Phillipe Starck to come up with something stunning, and he does not disappoint with the Zikmu wireless speakers although there will be certain quarters who think that all of Starck’s creations are lovely to look at but impractical. These 2.5 feet tall speakers communicate with each other via Bluetooth, and is able to broadcast sound 360° arround the room courtesy of Parrot’s NXT technology that relies on an extra-flat mebrane to create small-scale vibrations across the speakers’ entire surface. According to Philippe Starck himself, “We were not aiming to create just another speaker. Our design focused more on making the air vibrate. There is actually a three-dimensional feel to this vibration, meaning that the air is palpable, almost humanlike in presence, like a fragrance.” The price for designer speakers? $1,500 when next spring rolls around.
