Mitsubishi has a couple of new projectors in store for the masses - the WD3300U and XD3200U. Both of them will cater for large display needs such as lecture halls, boardrooms, large classrooms, church sanctuaries and a myriad of other presentation rooms. The design might be the same as well, but peel underneath the hood and you will find the WD3300U equipped with 4,000 ANSI lumens, a 2,300:1 contrast ratio, and a wide screen WXGA (1,280 x 800) resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio. As for the XD3200U, this model is brighter at 4,500 ANSI lumens, a 2,500:1 contrast ratio and a smaller XGA (1,024 x 768) resolution. DLP display technology are found in both models, allowing you to view images up to 300″ in size, diagonally. The 4,000 hour lamp life ought to be taken into consideration before you make your purchase.

AAXA’s recently rolled out a rather cute lil pico projector — the P1 — which boasts enough features to make it stand out from the pack, even if only slightly (there are so many to choose from these days). This half-pounder measures 2.3-inches wide and 4.1-inches long, and boasts a VGA resolution with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 12 ANSI lumens o’ brightness — making it a bit on the weak side. It’s also got a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD slot, 1GB of internal storage and an on-board media player, with anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes of battery life. This puppy’s available now for around $289.

We see a ton of tiny little projectors these days around here. This one, by toymaker Jakks Pacific, is still pretty eye-catching, anyway. Expected to be on hand next week at the Toy Industry Association’s annual International Toy Fair in New York, the EyeClops is obviously designed with children in mind, with a build similar to adult picos. We don’t have full specs on this one yet, but it’s capable of projecting a 70-inch images via its LED, and can be hooked up to all your child’s favorite gadgets — DVD players, digital cameras, and gaming consoles. The real kicker here is that the EyeClops is expected to sell for under $100 — much less than most projectors for oldies.

Projectiondesign’s F80 projector is the first 3-chip DLP projector that boasts the following :-
- 15,000:1 contrast ratio
- 8,500 lumens brightness
- Advanced Color Processing technology
- Full HD resolution
- WUXGA and SXGA+
We could possibly be looking at a £20,000 price point, which clearly places this out of reach of most people on Main Street.

PopSci has a great video hands-on of the Samsung Show W7900 that has an integrated micro projector. The projector is best used in a dark room, but basically, the phone can project a 40″ image with a decent brightness - which is amazing for such a small device.
The OLED 240×400 display also looks fantastic. The contrast and saturation are just unbelievable. At the moment, the user interface homepage is widget-based, which is comparable to the Samsung OMNIA that we just reviewed. (Video in the full post)
Highlights
- Micro-projector: 10 lumens, 480×320 pixels
- OLED display (240×400)
- 3.5G data connection
- 5 Megapixel Camera
- 4.4×2.2×0.7″
- No pricing yet.

BenQ displayed their GP1 mobile projector at the Texas Instruments booth for all and sundry to have a looksee at the recently concluded CES 2009, and this nifty device is capable of showing movies, images as well as office applications that run straight off a USB flash drive without the need for a notebook acting as a middleman. Guess technology is cutting out more and more bridges in-between to make our lives easier, which is a good thing. The BenQ GP1 will make its way to BenQ’s electronic stores and retail channels sometime this March for $599 a pop. Don’t expect drop dead gorgeous images from this, as long as it is functional, we should be happy.

While not high definition like the company’s most recent projectors, Sanyo’s PLC-XF71 manages to compensate with 10,000 lumens for some serious brightness. By comparison, the recently-unveiled PDG-DHT100JL sports 6,500 lumens and its sub-$2000 PLV-1080HD just 1,200. Beyond that, it’s got a 1024 x 768 picture and a 3000:1 contrast ratio. If you don’t mind trading resolution for intense luminance, look for it to show up this month for a papered Abe Lincoln under $17,000.
