When we think of lighting, we tend to think of fixtures in the ceiling, wall sconces and lamps. That’s why we love John Niero’s Zipper Silicone Luminaire, a light that shatters our expectations of what an illuminating device should look like. Made in the shape of a quilt (or at least part of one), the soft and flexible material has LEDs sewn into the fabric, sort of like that LED dress we saw a while back. Just like that dress, the LEDs create a diffuse effect, providing light without being too harsh.
The real innovation is in the quilt-like shape, though. The zippers on either side let you hang it up on zipper fixtures on your wall, attach several Luminaires together, or wrap it around things for an interesting circular effect. We could do without the cord hanging down (how about some batteries, John?), but we still like it.

It is the Snake Lamp. Made with a “unique” polypropylene sheet twisting and turning it’s way into your heart. You heard? It’s got a bunch of turns you ain’t never seen, and all without glue or welding. Just a mad, mad, magnet party.
For your triangle house.
Extend it all the way or keep it short.
And respect the CLEVER logo mark.

Everyone who grew up in the 1980s will definitely remember the frustrating Rubik’s Cube where the resident class nerd is the only one able to solve it. Well, fast forward to the 21st century and you see this iconic toy turned into a lamp. What makes this lamp special the light will create a ton of colorful patterns whenever it lights up. This is a hit-or-miss living room addition, and it will probably go down well if you already own a Rubik’s Cube alarm clock or something of the equivalent. This lamp will come in color and transparent versions, depending on your choice of home decor.

Bonfires sure are pretty, but they can be dangerous, too. The Bonfire, by designer Kang Kyung Lee, is an LED lamp that loosely simulates a pile of sticks set ablaze, though the low-heat LEDs won’t keep your hands warm. The Bonfire can be set up either as a pillar of three light poles, or you can twist it to fan it out into a more traditional shape.
It’s attractive, but if you’re really jonesing for some heat, s’mores and the joy of the outdoors, then you’re probably going to need to go for the real thing. Besides, the Bonfire is just a concept at this time, though a cool-looking one.

Here’s an idea: instead of throwing away a product’s packaging, make it suitable for re-use as another product of even greater beauty and usefulness. That’s the idea behind this Cava wine bottle packaging by Spanish design firm Ciclus.
After you’ve guzzled all the wine from the bottle contained within, the outer layer of its package turns into this swank-looking lamp. The package even includes the fixture and bulb you’ll need to complete the illuminating metamorphosis.
