iPhone Dev team hints at iPod Touch 2G jailbreak

Owners of the latest and greatest iPod Touch may want to take notice of a new post over at the iPhone Dev team blog. A cryptic message hints at a possible 2G iPod Touch jailbreak:

Well it isn’t a British Thermonuclear Device.
It isn’t an episode from “The Twilight Zone”
And it certainly isn’t iPhone 3G related (right now)
There is one other device…
It fits in your pocket..
What can it be?

A link in the post directs you to a webpage for new project, redsn0w, which apparently contains an image of the iPod Touch 2G processor in the center of the star and shows a young girl playing Tic Tac Toe with her dog. Keep your eyes peeled for a big announcement coming next Sunday.

Sonoro Element Internet radios take the iPod along for the oh-so-stylish ride

Posted by admin | Posted in Music | Posted on 09-01-2009

Sonoro-Eklipse-Internet-Radio-iPod.jpg
Sonoro Element Internet radios are all flash, and have external docks from which you can charge and play songs from your iPod. The player’s packaged behind a spare OLED facade and features a navigation style that mimics Apple’s iPod interface — trademark clickwheel included. Sonoro’s really trying hard to set itself apart with its looks — the company’s logo on the bottom left of the unit’s face, for instance, is actually the on/off switch. (German engineering at its finest, indeed.)

Look for different varieties of the Element radios to hit soon for around $500.

Acoustic Research ARIR200 / ARIR600i WiFi radios bring weather alerts, iPod support

Posted by admin | Posted in Music | Posted on 09-01-2009

Nothing too groundbreaking here, but Acoustic Research has a new pair of WiFi radios on tap at CES. The first one is the ARIR200 Infinite Radio, which pulls double duty as an internet / AM / FM radio and a traditional alarm clock. It provides direct access to Slacker content and comes bundled with a prepaid subscription to WeatherBug. Moving onto greener pastures, we’ve got the ARIR600i, which adds in a “subwoofer” and includes an iPod dock for charging your PMP and playing back tunes while docked. They’ll be available in February / mid-May, respectively for $129.99 / $199.99.

Firefly: iPod / iPhone Speaker Dock from Vestalife.

Firefly: iPod / iPhone Speaker Dock from Vestalife
[CES 2009] We all know the Ladybug, the cute award winning iPod dock created by Vestalife. Today, the company is launching two new versions of its famous product. It is hard to innovate from a so unique design and the company strategy this year is to improve the existing shape. With the Firefly, they made the wings more curvy and the whole look becomes more elegant. The red color is also more subtle (from what I can see on the photo). The Firefly is iPhone compatible, unlike the LadyBug, and has a built-in subwoofer unlike the Jewelbox (the other new product). Features after the jump.

iLuv rolls out iHD171 HD radio with iPhone / iPod dock, iTunes tagging

Posted by admin | Posted in Music | Posted on 31-12-2008

iLuv has been on quite the roll of late with these radio clocks and whatnot, though we’re a touch more excited than usual about the iHD171. For starters, this one tunes into HD Radio stations (you know, given how FM is so 2006), and it also plays nice with dock-connecting iPods and iPhones. You’ll find twin alarms for keeping couples happy, a front-panel display, iTunes tagging support, jAura speaker technology, an auxiliary line input (3.5-millimeter jack) and twin 4-watt drivers. If all that’s enough for you to exchange $199.99 for, you can do just that next month. Full release is after the jump.

Apple Cited To Release Giant iPod touch

Posted by admin | Posted in Music | Posted on 31-12-2008

Apple Cited To Release Giant iPod touch
Word on the street has it that Apple has plans to roll out a behemoth of an iPod touch that will feature a 7″ or even a 9″ display soemtime next fall, and this will most certainly fall under the tablet category that will be powered by a scaled down version of OS X found on the current iPod touch and iPhone 3G. How do you think this rumor will play out? Is it something worth looking forward to, or will it be just hot air when it is finally released? Only time will tell, but in the meantime something like this would have a very positive factor going for it - you have the advantage of the App Store to help maximize use of your giant iPod touch. Hopefully the battery life on this rumored device is able to stand up to the rigors of everyday use.

iLuv clock radio wakes you to one of thousands of Internet radio stations

Posted by admin | Posted in Stuff | Posted on 05-12-2008

iluv_wifi.jpg

If you wanted to wake up to an obnoxious buzzer, this iLuv iNT170 clock radio would let you with its dual alarms. But why do that when you can wake up to your choice of tens of thousands of internet radio stations, there for the taking? That’s what the Wi-Fi connectivity in this radio can let you do, hooking up with your home Wi-Fi network for those, and tuning in conventional FM stations, too.

Strangely enough, this is not an iPod dock, although there’s a line-in jack that’ll let you connect any music player or audio source. It’s unclear whether you can wirelessly connect this with your PC to stream music, which would be a welcome feature. But you are able to punch in 40 presets for your fave ‘net stations, and 40 more presets for FM. It’s retailing for $200, but we’ve already seen it discounted to $144.
